Located amongst the lush rolling hills of Franklin, Tennessee, Springhouse at Breezeway is steeped in Southern tradition. From the historic Civil War battlefields located within a few minutes' drive to the on-site historic home, this piece of property embodies the rich heritage of Williamson County.
Breezeway - The John Herbert House is the historical centerpiece of Springhouse at Breezeway. Built ca.1830, the Herbert House is a notable example of an early 19th century double-pen log residence with an open breezeway or "dogtrot." The construction of this type of log home was common in Williamson County during this time period; however, few intact examples have survived. Breezeway - The Herbert House exemplifies the very typical evolution of double-pen log residences into frame vernacular Greek Revival design homes.
ParkTrust Development is working with the Heritage Foundation to preserve the house for future generations to enjoy. Breezeway - The Herbert House has been deemed a well-preserved log residence and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
In keeping with the historical significance of the property and in order to properly compliment Breezeway - The Herbert House, the homes of Springhouse at Breezeway are required to be approved by the Architectural Approval Committee for the Home Owner's Association. |
